Budweiser China’s Lime Poverty Alleviation Project Won ‘Outstanding Cases of Foreign Investment Enterprises Poverty Alleviation’ by Shanghai Foreign Investment Association

We are honored to announce that Budweiser China’s Lime Poverty Alleviation Project won ‘Outstanding Cases of Foreign Investment Enterprises Poverty Alleviation’ out of around 100 foreign investment enterprises poverty alleviation candidacy cases by Shanghai Foreign Investment Association by its outstanding innovation, demonstration and social effect. This award is for foreign companies who had a great contribution to China’s poverty alleviation process with great love, compassion and strong commitment to China. Other well-known foreign enterprises such as Unilever, Starbucks also won the award together.


Moreover, our poverty alleviation stories are also embodied in ‘Case Reports on Poverty Alleviation in China by Foreign-Invested Companies’ published by Shanghai People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Shanghai Foreign Investment Association and Shanghai Daily. This report will be rendered to Shanghai Municipal People’s government, Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, and etc. Showing our great efforts and our active response to the country’s call for poverty alleviation.


Lime Poverty Alleviation Project Overview:

Budweiser China Lime Poverty Alleviation Project was officially launched in Sichuan Province since 2019. For the first time, we went deep into the transformation of offline industrial chain from the perspective of ‘Beer Couple’. And we deeply integrated the cultivation end to the consumer end. This stimulates the economic efficiency of poverty alleviation case through its own vitality, and creates a new model of modernized poverty alleviation. Firstly, ‘Technical Revamp’ - we cooperated with ‘NingJiaYi’, a professional technical service team, to upgrade innovative irrigation infrastructure, help local farmers to be skilled with scientifical cultivation methods. Secondly, ‘Government Cooperation’ - led by the local government, we took targeted measures to help underprivileged famers lift themselves out of poverty including providing job opportunities. Moreover, ‘Beer Couple’ - by seizing the opportunity of Corona's brand influence, we purchased the lime instead of donating through bundling the poverty alleviation lime with our beer. We directly connected ‘the last kilometre’ of Corona sales with ‘the first kilometre’ of native origin. Through this, we promoted Anyue Lime to beer lovers all over the country in the meantime. In 2020, we helped Anyue Lime achieve national supply, with its sales volume exceeding 6020kg by the end of the year.


This year, we plan to expand and upgrade our poverty alleviation base, launch lime e-commerce class, empower new poverty alleviation mode. Brewing great beers depends on thriving communities. And we are committed to numerous CSR initiatives that support our commitment to build a company to last for the next 100 years and beyond.
