OBC held ‘Cass BSG Upcycling Food Festival’ on June 2nd for its employees, in celebration of World Environment Day.
OBC employees were given a chance to learn about ‘BSG upcycling’ as an eco-friendly business case that reduces carbon footprint, while experiencing various dishes made with BSG (Barley Saved Grain), a co-product of Cass brewing. By upcycling co-products from the beer brewing process, carbon emissions from cropping and dumping can be reduced.
OBC and RE:harvest served lasagna, pizza, chicken tenders, egg tarts, madeleines, honey pastry, ice cream, beer latte and other dishes made with BSG, offering a glimpse into the world of possibilities in BSG upcycling.
At the event, OBC employees brought their own plates to reduce the use of disposable plastics. OBC plans to expand ‘Cass BSG Upcycling Food Festival’ as an event for consumers in the future.
RE:harvest, a local venture company specializing in food upcycling, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with OBC last year and is co-developing various food items using BSG.
