The National Poverty Alleviation Summary and Commendation Conference was held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Feb 25th, 2021. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, President of the State and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, delivered an important speech, solemnly declaring that our country has achieved a comprehensive victory in the fight against poverty. A very small number of advanced individuals and advanced collectives conference have been awarded the honorary title of National Model of Poverty Alleviation in the conference. Anheuser-Busch InBev Sedrin Brewery Co., Ltd. won the prestigious award to “National Poverty Alleviation Advanced Collectives.”

“Bringing People Together for a Better World” is our purpose. It is also the commitment that we keep fulfilling every day and that we have been recognized for achieving. As a leading global Fortune 500 company, we have been keen on helping communities, supporting industry and schools, and leading in sustainability and other corporate social responsibility practices. We are committed to assisting and solving various key public welfare issues wherever our business operates and to promoting social prosperity, corporate social responsibility and health wherever we operate.

As we have grown Budweiser in China, we have continuously contributed to the communities where we operate with social investment and care for these communities. For poverty alleviation in education, Budweiser has pledged to donate a "Hope School" in each city where a brewery built in China. To date, Budweiser China has donated 29 Hope Schools across the country. Volunteer teams spontaneously organized by colleagues from Sedrin breweries and sales offices emerged. They regularly visit Hope Schools to replenish them with various daily necessities and school supplies, as well as holding various extracurricular activities on campus. We encourage students to be ambitious, and together with us, to build a better world, a beautiful country in the future! We also actively cooperates with China Children's and Adolescents' Foundation to carry out safety education projects, donating safety treasure boxes and safety experience classrooms to Hope Schools across China, aiming to promote safety knowledge and raise safety awareness.

In terms of industrial poverty alleviation specifically, Budweiser China energetically responded to the local government's poverty alleviation policies and calls, combining products with poverty alleviation projects to create a new model for farming assistance. Since 2019, we have deployed poverty alleviation projects in Zhangzhou, Jishui and Anyue for products as diverse as lychee, rice and lime, as we work to ensure social, agricultural and fruit farmer stability. In "Lychee Support Project," Sedrin brewery took the initiative to contact local governments and villages to combine lychee beer ingredients with poverty alleviation work, which has been successfully selected in the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Goodies list of the influential media outlet Southern Weekend, receiving highly praise and support from all walks of life. We cooperated with many stakeholders to support the rural revitalization project, investing funds, providing technical support and innovative sales model, creating brand characteristics, and taking practical actions to contribute to poverty alleviation through consumption.

This honor cannot be achieved without the collective efforts of the company and employees. We should all be proud and appreciative of the tireless efforts of all Budweiser colleagues involved in poverty alleviation projects, led in this honor by China’s Southeast Business Unit. In 2020, Budweiser China and all volunteers practiced corporate social responsibility with their own actions in teaching, environmental protection, poverty alleviation, etc. with the total number of volunteer service hours above 63,000 hours. In the future, we will be faithful to the original aspiration and continue marching forward on the public welfare undertakings, contributing back to society, upholding the spirit of poverty alleviation, assisting the construction of a beautiful China, and being outstanding enterprise.
