On Jan 15th, 2020 Budweiser China Innovation Hub Demo Day and Budweiser Sustainability Foundation Unveiling Ceremony were successfully held in Shanghai. This historic event highlighted Budweiser China’s commitment to building a sustainable business for the future, to working together with our partners to create positive impact in our communities in China and to achieving our 2025 Sustainability Goals.
Opening Remarks
Jan Clysner, Vice President of Procurement & Sustainability, Budweiser APAC, noted “Innovation Hub can establish an ecosystem of innovation and sustainability for Budweiser and startups, not only boosting innovation within Budweiser value chain and closing the gap between our achievements and goals, but also accelerating the development of startups. In addition, we have a broader perspective for Innovation Hub to pay attention to more topics such as waste to wellbeing and circular economy. Now we would like to build an even more sustainable and influential network, so we set up a Sustainability Foundation through our partner. Thus, we can share our experiences and solutions, cooperate with industry peers and government organizations, and express our message louder to raise public awareness.”
At the start of 2020 Innovation Hub, a total of 62 companies submitted their ideas and projects. We moved forward with 7 of them to run pilot programs, and finally 4 partners from Cardinal Operations, KiWi Green Technology, RTBAsia, and GuoYan Environmental Protection Technology finally delivered the successful pilot results. These programs covered the practices of green logistics, waste to wellbeing, digital media, and sludge treatment. It is gratifying that these results have been out of the laboratory and applied to actual work scenarios, and would bring win-win results for many parties. The vehicle-mounted integrated sludge deep dewatering system developed by GuoYan Environmental Protection Technology has been working at Budweiser’s Xinxiang and Putian breweries since September last year. This system can reduce the amount of sludge shipped out by half, significantly save sludge disposal costs as well as lowering electricity consumption. KiWi Green Technology is cooperating with Budweiser to establish the first brewery-spent-grain protein production line in Zhangzhou, Fujian. In the future, brewery-spent-grain protein products are expected to be widely used in various feeds and even human food. RTBAsia validates and optimizes the problem of invalid traffic in digital advertising for clients like Budweiser. Cardinal Operations optimizes the utilization of resources such as vacant warehouses, and empty trucks capacity for return trips, which reduces the operating costs of enterprises and achieves energy-saving and emission reduction. At the 1st Cohort Graduation, Jan Clysner presented certificates to four startups and their Budweiser mentors, recognizing their outstanding contributions to a sustainable future through their innovative thinking and practical achievements.
