OBC unveiled the ‘Renergy Bar’ made out of Cass’ BSG(Barley Saved Grain), on the crowdfunding platform Wadiz. The ‘Renergy Bar’ funding period is from January 7 to January 25 of 2021 and two flavor options are offered-cheese and black sesame. 10% of the target funding amount of ‘RE:nergy Bar’ will be used to support the underprivileged.
In November, OBC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a food startup RE:harvest, a new local venture company specializing in food upcycling. Since then, two companies have been working together to develop and commercialize simple replacement of foods such as energy bars, granola, and cereals through upcycling beer byproducts.
The first result of this collaboration has produced an energy bar made from Cass’ BSG, which is naturally produced from Cass manufacturing process. Energy bars made by RE:harvest using sikhye(sweet rice drink) byproducts, have already been recognized as a viable product, exceeding the target amount of funding by more than 2,000%, two times, on the cloud funding platform, Wadiz.
“We hope that the launch of the Cass beer brewer’s grain energy bar will be the starting point for becoming more circular for companies, society, and the environment,” An OBC official stated, “We will continue our efforts in achieving our core corporate goal of making a ‘better world’.”
