On November 3rd, 2020, the "Management Practices for Safer Roads Toolkit" webinar co-hosted by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNTAR), the United Nations Institute for International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders in Shanghai (CIFAL Shanghai), the United Nations Institute for International Training Center for Authorities and Leaders in Atlanta (CIFAL Atlanta), the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS) and AB InBev was successfully held. The series of webinars have been successfully held 4 times globally in different zones, with English, Spanish and Portuguese versions of the toolkit released. This time, the China Webinar was coordinated cross-regional and conducted online through the ZOOM platform, joined with more than 100 guests, including UN officials and representatives From AB InBev.
The "Road Safety Management Practice Toolkit" was developed by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and is also an important result of the joint collaboration between UNITAR and AB InBev on road safety. This toolkit mainly aims at local government officials, engineers, planners and practitioners, road safety professionals and road users. The toolkit is consists of four modules, which highlights local demonstration projects implemented in different countries across continents including China, Brazil, India, South Africa, etc.
Mr. Frank Wang, Chief Legal and Corporate Affairs Officer of Budweiser APAC, delivered opening remarks on behalf of company, sharing13-year of BUD China’s public welfare action of "Smart Drinking Campaign" and the best practice of the “Together For Safer Roads” project. The TSR project utilized international leading scientific data analysis and other methods to intervene and improve many accident-prone roads in Shanghai. It successfully reduced the total number of accidents on the pilot roads by 50-70%, with the number of casualties declined by more than 50%, creating a safer traffic environment benefiting local community and citizens.
After the webinar, BUD China took immediate actions, sharing the toolkit with local government in more than 30 cities across China where we have breweries and offices. Through the further sharing of the " Management Practices for Safer Roads Toolkit ", we hope it will mobilize local forces to learn management methods that help improve road safety and exploring the local adaptation, so as to contribute for a safe, stable and growing community.
