OBC has joined the ‘Thank You Challenge’ to offer thanks and appreciation to the medical workers and public who are working hard to overcome COVID-19).
OBC has posted a photo of its participation in the ‘Thank You Challenge’ on its official SNS channel, sending a message of support to medical workers dedicated to overcoming COVID-19 and to all the people trying hard to prevent the spread of the virus. OBC CEO and OBC employees expressed their gratitude and respect through a photo of them using the symbol for ‘I respect you’ in sign language.
OBC was chosen to participate in the challenge by Hollys Coffee, OBC’s partner for the ‘Water and Human Photo Contest’ last year. For the next challenge participants, OBC has named Ingredion Korea which cooperated with OBC to provide agricultural water to drought-stricken farms in Icheon last year and Korea Green Foundation, OBC’s partner for environmental campaigns.
OBC spokesman stated, “We are participating in the challenge to offer our gratitude to the medical workers who are on the front lines of the quarantine and remain committed to their duty. We will continue to actively abide by quarantine guidelines to prevent the further spread of COVID-19, so that medical staff’s efforts are not wasted.”
OBC was the first company in Korean liquor industry to provide all-out support to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic. In early February, OBC delivered 8,970 bottles of water (2 liters) to Korea Disaster Relief Association for people in quarantine due to concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic. In March, OBC delivered a total of KRW 1 billion in donations and emergency relief goods for the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region, which was hit hard by COVID-19. OBC also implemented large-scale support measures, including extending deadlines for the payment of purchases, to help liquor wholesalers across the country who have been suffering from a sharp drop in sales due to COVID-19.
The ‘Thank You Challenge’ is a relay campaign started by the ‘Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC)’ and the ‘Ministry of Health and Welfare (MoHW)’ in which participants post photos or videos of themselves making the symbol for ‘respect’ and ‘pride’ in sign language on Instagram and other social networking sites to support medical workers working to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
