OBC delivered a donation of KRW 10 million raised by ‘Can Crush Challenge’ campaign to ‘Cclim’.
On July 8th, OBC CEO attended the donation ceremony held at the Ju-Shin Resource Complex in Songpa-gu, Seoul and presented Cclim CEO with KRW 10 million. Cclim is a social venture that helps the elderly who earn their living by collecting and selling recyclable materials.
The donation will be used to provide free support of lightweight carts made of materials weighing over 30 kilograms less than ordinary carts to ease the physical burden of the elderly. In addition, OBC will further support economic independence of the elderly by attaching OBC’s CSR advertisements on their carts which will generate extra income for them every month.
The donation was made by setting aside KRW 1,000 for each count of participants of the ‘Can Crush Challenge’, an environmental campaign which OBC executed to promote the right way to dispose of aluminum cans in celebration of World Environment Day.
OBC spokesman stated, “The ‘Can Crush Challenge’ holds great meaning as is shows that considering the environment can lead to helping people in need who make a living collecting recyclable materials. OBC will continue in our commitment to solve environmental and social problems.”
The ‘Can Crush Challenge’ is a participatory relay environmental campaign to promote the proper way to dispose of aluminum cans. The campaign received a lot of attention as actor Kwon Yul, singer Sean, Hani of K-pop girl group EXID, and other celebrities participated in the campaign through their personal Instagram accounts, which helped promote further voluntary participation from ordinary citizens.
