Ministry of Ecology and Environment and Beijing Municipal Government Jointly Invite Budweiser APAC to Share Experience on Green and Low-carbon Development to the Public

July 2 marks the 8th National Low-carbon Day, with the theme of "Green and Low-carbon, Moderately Prosperous in All Respects". In the morning of July 2, the themed event, jointly organized by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) and the Beijing Municipal government, was broadcast.

Vice Minister of MEE Zhao Yingmin, Vice Mayor of Beijing Municipal government Yang Bin and MEE Special Adviser Xie Zhenhua attended the meeting.

MEE said climate change is a serious challenge for all mankind. China is committed to a path of green and low-carbon development suited to its national conditions, to build up a moderately prosperous society in all respects and protect the planet for the future generations.

The Beijing Municipal government will consistently follow the path of ecological priority and green development, focus on the major task of protecting the blue sky and tackling climate change, actively plan the ecological and environmental protection plan during 14th Five-year Plan, based on the standard of being the best.

Xie Zhenhua said that the Covid19 disease is a severe public health crisis facing the world, and climate change is a deep-rooted challenge to the survival and development of mankind. All countries live in one global village and mankind is a community with a shared future. Therefore, green and low-carbon development requires the joint efforts of the whole society.


As the only foreign company invited to attend the Event, Budweiser APAC shared experience, actions and goals in the green and low-carbon field through the live links:

Low-carbon development is Budweiser's consistent commitment to climate protection and carbon reduction. Budweiser aims to use 100% renewable energy by 2025 and reduce carbon emissions across its value chain by 25%.

Ziyang brewery is our first brewery in China using 100% renewable electricity, which is also the first to achieve this goal in the Chinese beery industry.

Budweiser looks to complete 15-16 more before 2020 ends, which is about half of its breweries in China. At that time, 59% of Budweiser will be brewed with renewable electricity. The amount of renewable electricity equals to the electricity amount used by 35,000 ordinary families for a year, reducing carbon of 64,500 ton, and planting 3.52mio trees.


By sharing these remarkable achievements, Budweiser APAC once again demonstrates to the public that it is Budweiser's purpose to Bringing people together for a better world. Budweiser APAC will continue to integrate sustainable development into its entire value chain for a cleaner world.

JD, DiDi and other leading domestic enterprises also shared their cases in green and low-carbon. In addition, the National Low-carbon Day also launched a global essay campaign for climate investment and financing in 2020, released a small low-carbon program for the 2022 Winter Olympics, issued a low-carbon initiative by youth representatives, and launched the 11th "Green Development and Low-carbon Life" nonprofit exhibition.

The Financial Ministry, People's Bank of China, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, Yale University and other well-known institutions sent their wishes to the Event from home and abroad.
