-100% recycled paper to be used for corrugated box of Cass 500ml bottled beer
-Weight of plastic shrink film of Cass cans packages reduced by 96 tons per year
OBC announced on the 13th that it has renewed box package of Cass, the flagship brand of the company, to a 100% recycled paper; for the first time in the liquor industry.
OBC changed box package of 500ml Cass bottles distributed in in-home channels including large retail chains and supermarkets across the country into corrugated box made with 100-percent recycled paper. The packaging for 640ml bottled beer is also currently being changed to 100% recycled paper. The new Cass bottled beer packaging box has an ‘eco-friendly’ mark attached with the phrase “Packaging made from 100% recycled paper for the environment” to promote the Cass brand's eco-friendly efforts.
The plastic shrink film for Cass canned beer packaging (355ml, 500ml) has also become lighter in weight. The thickness of the film packaging for Cass canned beer will be significantly decreased, reducing the amount of plastic film used by 96 tons annually. 96 tons of film is enough to cover the entire ’63 Building’ in Yeouido from top to bottom a total of 56 times.
“For a sustainable future, the company has given the package for the flagship brand Cass, an eco-friendly renewal. As the leading company in the domestic liquor industry, we are dedicated to expanding the application of eco-friendly packages and realize sustainable management.” said OBC spokesman.
In addition to applying eco-friendly packages, the Cass brand is also engaged in various other activities for the environment. Last year, Cass participated as one of the official sponsors of the Daegu Chicken and Beer Festival and used a ‘biodegradable PLA beer cup’ at the festival. Consumers using the Cass tumbler at the festival were given discounts to encourage eco-friendly consumption. Also, every summer for the past ten years, Cass has collaborated with the Green Asia Network, an international environmental organization, for “Cass Forest of Hope” to prevent desertification and reduce fine dust from Mongolia.
