Release date:June 03, 2019

(OBC has announced to expand the number of EVs for beer delivery in celebration of World Environment Day.。)

OBC (CEO Bruno Cosentino) revealed its ‘Green Logistics’ plan on June 3. This is to replace more than 30% of beer trucks into electric vehicles by 2025 for sustainability. Also, it will put a ‘CALMATO EV’, the green electric truck, for its use onsite which is the first time in the industry.

As the company is very keen to Climate Action, it has come up with plans to curb 25% of CO2 emission by 2025 from that of 2017 as follows; ▲Introduction of Green Logistics ▲Installation of renewable solar panel ▲ EVs for sales activities ▲Expansion of returnable package and recycled ingredients.

‘CALMATO EV’ is the very first 1-ton Electric Truck in the industry, developed by Zein Motors. OBC is planning to deploy the truck in its logistics site for a month as a trial, and gradually expand the number of vehicles according to the performance.

In addition, OBC has launched ‘100+ Sustainability Committee’ internally for the execution of Green Logistics. The Committee comprises 20 voluntary members from various levels and functions in charge of energy, logistics, package and environment & safety. Committee members will conduct various green activities to achieve 2025 Sustainability Goals, Smart Agriculture, Water Stewardship, Circular Packaging, and Climate Action

“Environment problem is the most serious and important problem we are facing while it has huge impact on beer industry. This Committee is one effort to keep our commitment of proactively addressing environment and relevant social problem. We should work harder to build a company to last next 100 years.” said Bruno Cosentino, the CEO of OBC.

Meanwhile, AB InBev—the global HQ of OBC—is reinforcing its sustainable management and social responsibilities by announcing its green corporate vision and setting 100+ Goals which is to be with consumers for the next 100 and more years in four pillars; Smart Agriculture, Water Stewardship, Circular Packaging, and Climate Action.

June 5 is World Environment Day, which was established by the United Nations in Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment, in June 1972. It was designated to commit international community’s common efforts to protection of world environment.
